As part of She’s Right’s participation in 16 days of activism to end violence against women, each piece will be dedicated to a woman who has lost her life due to gender-based violence. This podcast is dedicated to Kerrice Lewis, killed by a man on 28th December 2017, at the age of 23.

In this episode of Great Woman Theory, our hosts discuss the life of Gladys Bentley, blues singing sensation and “gender outlaw”. From humble beginnings to stardom, we discuss her defiance of gender norms, and the constraints a repressive society imposes on those who live outside the gender binary.
